Look for Strong Antonio Cromartie Play By Seahawks with Joseph Gone

With Jonathan Joseph and the Houston Texans united look for the rest of the cornerback dominoes to fall shortly; especially considering one team may potentially decide the fate for two of the best three overall options.

The New York Jets hold the cornerback cards with their pursuit of Nnamdi Asomuagha and whether they land him or not decides the landscape of the market. They will not be keeping Revis, Asomuagha, and Antonio Cromartie; if Nnamdi is signed by Gang Green, Cromartie is gone. If they strike out on Nnamdi, then they will more then likely look to retain Cromartie.

With their cap situation Nnamdi would have to take a below market deal to pair with Revis and form the best cornerback tandem we may have ever seen. The 49ers are also reported to have strong interest and they have cleared the cap space necessary to pursue him as their one large free agent prize.

The situation bodes well for the Seahawks, especially considering their budget vs. Nnamdi’s reported suitors’ budget. The ideal scenario is for New York to keep Nnamdi out of San Francisco and to force Antonio Cromartie out of New York. Between the two, Cromartie has expressed direct interest in playing for the Seattle Seahawks; so if the feeling is mutual, a deal is more certain to be done than a deal with Nnamdi is.

Looking at their depth chart– Marcus Trufant, Walter Thurmond, Richard Sherman…

Yes, Pete Carroll is going to be adding at least one starting caliber cornerback with his $35 million+ required spending spree.

My (or really Paul Allens’) money is on Antonio Cromartie becoming the latest big name Pete Carroll recruit.
